Danang International Airport, also known as DAD, is one of the major airports in Vietnam, located in Danang City. The airport has two terminals:

  • Terminal 1 for Domestic Flights (36,600㎡)
  • Terminal 2 for International Flights (210,000㎡).

Passengers making a connection that requires a terminal change will need to exit the arrivals hall and walk to the other terminal through a covered corridor.

TERMINAL 2 – INTERNATIONAL TERMINAL

To move between floors in building T2, you can use the elevator or escalator.

WIFI AND SIM CARD

Wifi: Free Wi-Fi is available at Da Nang Airport. You can log in to “Maltairport Wi-Fi” to connect to the network.

SIM Card and Currency Exchange: There are many service counters right next to the airport entrance on the ground floor for you to find where to buy SIM cards (for internet connection and phone calls in Vietnam) and exchange for Vietnam Dong (VND) cash.

The functions of a SIM card include receiving calls, making phone calls, texting, and using internet data. When you purchase a SIM card, the staff will help you register for a mobile network package with one of the Vietnamese mobile network providers, such as Viettel, Mobifone, Vinaphone, Vietnamobile, etc.

Price range: 180,000 – 350,000 VND (8-15 USD) depending on the package you choose:

  • Your SIM can be used to only use internet data or both to contact and use internet data.
  • The package will typically last for 7 or 30 days.

The most commonly used currency in Vietnam is the Vietnamese Dong (VND). You can make payments in Vietnam through methods like bank transfers, card payments, or cash. However, it is still advisable to keep some cash on hand for convenient transactions. There are 3 ways for you to exchange Vietnamese Dong:

  • You can find currency exchange counters in the arrival hall of the international terminal. You can purchase cash or make a transfer to your account. The exchange rates are updated from time to time.
  • Withdraw cash from an ATM at the airport or on the streets of Danang (you can easily find ATMs here or find ATMs near you on Google Maps from BIDV, Techcombank, Vietinbank, MSB, Agribank…).
  • At the hotel you stay at, you can ask at the reception desk.

TRANSPORTATION TO THE CITY CENTER

The journey from Danang International Airport to the city center by car typically takes between 10 and 15 minutes. There are several transportation options available, such as private transport, taxis, public buses, shuttle buses, or use Grab services.

In case you use a private airport transfer service, you just need to go straight to the entrance. A travel agency or a transportation provider offers this service. The driver will wait for you outside the arrival hall with your name on a sign, assist you with your luggage, and take you to your destination.

Taxi

The cost of a taxi from the airport to the city’s center ranges between 80,000 and 120,000 VND per trip.

You can choose from eight different bus routes to get to the city center from Danang International Airport. The bus fare is around 10,000 VND (0,42 USD) per trip.
