Changes in Vietnam visas policy from July 01, 2020

The immigration law named 51/2019/QH14 issued by the National Assembly of Vietnam will be applied from 01 July 2020. It might be said that some changes will make the proper and good conditions for tourism development and business investment. The procedure will be transparent for both executors and implementers. If you are foreigners who are working or just travelling in Vietnam, you should spend your time finding out these points.

4 new changes in Vietnam visas policy from July 01, 2020

Number 1: The change on tourist visa (DL)

All tourist visa will be grant 1 month validity from your date of entry. If you have 3 month visa and you wish to stay longer within 3 month, you have to get your visa extended. This change is considered as the suitable step to minimize foreigners who used to work illegally in Vietnam under tourist visa.

Number 2: Purpose of visa can be changed

In the past, if you wish to change the purpose of visa from tourist to business, you are advised to leave Vietnam and use the new visa with new purpose to come back. It is not until 01 July 2020 that the process will be taken place in Vietnam with the following conditions,

+ The document showing the investor or a representative of a foreign organization investing in Vietnam

+ The document showing the relationship such as father, mother, wife, husband and children

+ The work permit or labor contract by the business sponsor in Vietnam

+ The owner of work permit use e visa to enter Vietnam

Number 3: The changes on Investment visa

There are 4 types of investment which is based on the rate of direct capital contribution in Vietnam.

Number 4: The regulation on Temporary Residence Card (TRC)

Here are some changes you should note:

+ The validity of temporary residence cards is shorter than the remaining time of passport at least 30 days.

+ Temporary residence card with the symbol DT1 is valid for not more than 10 years.

+ Temporary residence cards with symbols NG3, LV1, LV2, LS, DT2 and DH are valid for not more than 05 years.

+ Temporary residence cards with symbols NN1, NN2, ĐT3, TT are valid for not more than 03 years.

+ Temporary residence cards with the symbols LD1, LD2 and PV1 are valid for no more than 2 years.
