5 Year Vietnam Visa Exemption
There are many types of visas to enter Vietnam that make you wonder which one to choose. But if you are a Vietnamese living abroad or married to a Vietnamese citizen / overseas Vietnamese, don’t miss one of the best options: 5-year visa exemption.
So what is 5-year visa exemption?
This can be considered as a long-term visa (also known as a 5-year visa) so that the certificate holder can visit Vietnam at any time for 5 years.
Note:
If you have 5-year visa exemption, you won’t have to apply for another visa to travel to Vietnam anymore for 5 years. Besides, you are allowed to stay in Vietnam for 180 days at maximum for each visit. After 180 days, you will need to leave Vietnam and then enter again.
In case you don’t want to leave the country and want to stay longer than 180 days, you can take extending visa into consideration.
This 5-year visa exemption will be valid for the longest period of 05 years and expire at least 6 months before the expiration of the holder’s passport or equivalent paper.
How to get 5-year visa exemption?
There are only 02 STEPS that you need to follow:
STEP 01: You must prepare required documents below and their difference will depend on who you are:
Vietnamese overseas
- A 5-year Vietnam visa exemption application form. Here is the link in case you don’t know where to find it: https://mienthithucvk.mofa.gov.vn/
- Passport or residence permit granted by a competent agency in the country of residence valid for at least 6 months following the date of arrival in Vietnam; and equivalent paper
- 02 photos (white background, straight face, bare head, no glasses)
- One certified copy or copy attached to originals of one of the following papers:
- Certificate of birth;
- Certificate of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Decision for renunciation of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Certificate of loss of Vietnamese citizenship;
- Vietnamese passport (valid or invalid);
- Identity Card (valid or invalid);Latest voter’s card;
- Family Register Book;
- Documents issued by competent foreign authorities if they can prove that the person in question has original Vietnamese citizenship or of Vietnamese origin.
- If you are don’t have documents listed at (4), the following materials could be submitted:
- A guarantee issued by an overseas Vietnamese association from the country of residence
- A guarantee from a Vietnamese citizen
Foreign spouses & children of Vietnamese oversea/Vietnamese citizens1.
- A 5 year Vietnam visa exemption application form
- Foreign passport that will be valid for 6 months in minimum following entry date in Vietnam;
- 02 photos (white background, straight face, bare head, no glasses)
- 01 copy attached to originals of one of the following papers which can prove the relationship between wives/husbands/children and the Vietnamese overseas/Vietnamese citizens:
- Certificate of Marriage
- Certificate of Birth
- Certificate of relationship with father, mother, children;
- Other valid documents as regulated by the Vietnamese Law.
- Decision of Adoption
